Ducks On Parade! Or In the 2nd Annual Duck Cook-Off, At Any Rate.

They’re  quack… er, back! This Sunday, March 4th from 1-3 p.m. we are hosting our second annual Just Ducky Duck Cook-Off to benefit Food Systems Network NYC. For a mere $20 (recommended to purchase tickets in advance; a limited number may be available at the door), you will enjoy a walk-around, 10-course tasting buffet of creative duck dishes made from regionally-produced quackers and seasonal ingredients. There will be everything from duck charcuterie to duck-dominated first and second courses. Confirmed chefs include:

  • Chef Jessica Wilson;
  • Gina Kealty, Nourishing NYC;
  • Marja Sansom (aka “Dumpling Diva”), The Kitchen Club, will bring Duck and Ginger Dumplings;
  • Amateur “Cook-off King of Queens,” Adrian Ashby;
  • Returning amateur chef Michele Lamort;
  • Jimmy’s No. 43, and more chefs to be announced.

Prizes will be awarded based on regional sourcing and seasonality of ingredients, creativity, execution, appearance, and taste.

Meet The “Brewer”: Clown Shoes Beer Visits This Thursday

On Thursday we’re going to have an amazing line-up of Clown Shoes Beer, and joining us to help taste discerningly will be Clown Shoes very own Matt Gamble. Among the beers available will be:

  • Hoppy Feet: 7% black IPA 
  • Hoppy Feet 1.5: 10% double black IPA 
  • Eagle Claw: 8% imperial amber
  • Clementine: 6% Belgian white
  • Muffin Top: 10% Belgian tripel / IPA

We anticipate having Clown Shoes on tap or in the bottle through the weekend, but if you want to chat with Matt, drop by after 6:30 p.m. this Thursday, March 1, and enjoy some Clown Shoes!

There are a handful of day-of tickets (available here) that remain for tonight’s Brisket King of NYC brisket cook-off with artisanal spirits at Santos Party House (96 Lafayette Street).
