What’s On Thursday Tap? It’s Kissmeyer Stockholm Syndrome DIPA

We’re very excited with the response to our new weekly beer event, Thursday Tap. This week’s beer is nicely profiled by our friends at Shelton Brothers. So we’re going to let them tell you why you want to be at Jimmy’s No. 43 at 5 p.m. tonight (last week’s special keg lasted a mere 50 hours before selling out). Now, without further ado, we turn the blog over to Shelton Brothers!

Recently, Jimmy’s No. 43 started up a “Thursday Tap” series. Every Thursday at 5pm, they’ll tap a special keg or cask. Beers will range from rare casks to new beers to small batches brewed by some of Jimmy’s favorite breweries. Jimmy’s No. 43 is located at 43 E. 7th Street.

This Thursday, 29 March, they’ll be tapping a keg of Kissmeyer Stockholm Syndrome, a 9% double IPA that is heavily hopped with 50% American hops and 50% New Zealand hops for a dry yet intensely fruity flavor. As Anders Kissmeyer says, “the explosion of citrus, passion fruit, peach, and apricot flavours wraps up the intense hop bitterness in a highly seductive way. Think: ‘this is my idea of the ideal fruit bowl.'” For the rest of the story, click here

“Dish Of The Week”: Violet Hill Farm’s Belle Rouge Chicken

As many of our frequent guests know, Jimmy’s No. 43 is a great place to get affordable, locally-sourced cuisine to go along with a great pint (or two). This week, we are featuring menu items that incorporate Belle Rouge Chicken from Violet Hill Farm in West Winfield, NY. This specialty chicken has been carefully created and raised by farmer Paul Dench-Layton; the Belle Rouge brand is exclusive to the farm and only available to Saturday Union Square Market shoppers.

Jimmy notes, “Paul delivers to us on his way home Saturday evening after manning the Union Square greenmarket tent. Over the years, he’s raised everything from pork to guinea hen. His belle rouge chickens taste like chicken should!”

Paul has worked diligently to find the right combination of feed ratios, growing conditions and breed of bird to get the much loved and super tasty Belle Rouge chicken. And this week you can taste just how great it is at Jimmy’s No. 43!

Bronx Brewery And Slant Shack Jerky Night

How can you possibly make 100-percent grass-fed beef jerky any better? By soaking it in beer, of course! Bronx Pale Ale Jerky is the perfect pairing of SlantShack’s jerky and Bronx Brewery’s Pale Ale (with a bit of Brooklyn-based Tin Mustard and honey thrown in for good measure). If you want a preview of the jerky, which is scheduled to go on sale to the public later this week, high-tale it to Jimmy’s No. 43 on Wednesday, 3/21, from 6-8 p.m. We’ll have free jerky (while supplies last) to pair with Bronx Pale Ale on tap. You buy the beer, we’ll bring the beef!
