As you are probably aware by now (especially if you’re reading this, you have the power!), we have been really hurt by Hurricane Sandy and the subsequent loss of power. Jimmy’s No. 43 has always been a friend in deed; not wanting to boast about good deeds, but we’ve raised thousands for relief when Hurricane Irene came through and hurt our local farmers last year and a few months before that when the tsunami destroyed breweries in northern Japan. We love that we’ve been on the front lines helping others in difficult times.

Now, instead of being a friend in deed, we’re a friend in need. We’re doing everything we can to get power restored to the bar; we hope to have a generator up and running by Friday. In the meantime, you can truly help us out by buying a ticket to one (or more) of our amazing fall events. THESE EVENTS WILL HAPPEN. We’re down, but not out. We’ll also have some kind of gift program for the holidays, so consider a Jimmy’s No. 43 gift card as a stocking stuffer (or Hanukkah gift) this year. We don’t have a link up, but you can mail checks in the amount of $25, $50 or $100 for gift certificates (be sure to include your mailing address + we’ll keep your name on file) to:

• November 22nd – Thanksgiving Family Style Dinner – Why cook? Get your $25 ticket here and you’ll have all you can eat, family style, of traditional Thanksgiving fare (drinks extra).
• December 1st – Battle of the Belgians – Yes, you can get your $45 EARLY BIRD ticket here (last year, tickets were $65 day of).
• December 3rd – Belgian Beer Prix Fixe VEGETARIAN Dinner with Shelton Brothers – Get your $45 ticket here (includes 5 courses/beer pairings) before they sell out (and our Vegetarian Dinners always do, so help us help you get in by getting your ticket early).
• December 25th – Christmas/Hanukkah Family Style Dinner with Wandering Star Brewing Company – Get your $25 ticket here and you’ll have all you can eat, family style, of traditional holiday meats and sides (drinks extra).
• December 31st – New Year’s Eve Craft Beer Slam – Your $45 ticket here gets you three hours of open bar leading up to the midnight toast.

As most of you have heard, there was a big blow out at the ConEd relay station on 14th. We’re working to get a generator for us and Standings. When we have power, we’ll be back up and pouring great craft beer! Cool temps are a blessing. Thanks for the good thoughts coming our way.

Not only are we open, serving brunch (later, dinner) and interesting and unusual beers, we’ll also have a tv feed for tonight’s game. Come in, and get away from Sandy with great craft beer.

We love being the home to interesting and unusual beers, but meeting interesting and unusual brewers makes drinking their beer all the more fun. If you’ve met Chris Post, Alex Hall, and Chris Cuzme of Wandering Star Brewing, you know exactly what we mean. They’re as cool as their beer, and for several Thursday Taps™ over the coming months, Jimmy’s No. 43 will feature casks their Pittsfield, MA, brewery.

This week, we’re featuring a firkin of Mild at Heart, a 4.4% ABV English Dark Style Ale. We don’t know if the boys will be around to toast with you, but we’re expecting some of them on Christmas Day for our 2nd annual Holiday Beer Family Dinner. Tickets are already available. Last year, we had a great time celebrating the day (12/25, for those of you who plan on surviving the Mayan Apocalypse) with Green Flash, and this year we’ll be featuring Wandering Star beer with Chris Cuzme as one of the hosts for the all-you-can eat family-style dinner.

As for tonight’s Thursday Tap™, we tap at 5 p.m. and, as always, until supply runs out. Regular bar/restaurant service (not to mention oysters!) still available.
