June Dinner Series, Walk Japan and Beer Hunter Movie All On Tap

We have a full and exciting month of great events coming up at Jimmy’s No. 43, starting with tonight’s return of Vegetarian Nonsense™ with New Small Breweries (Radiant Pig, Port Jeff, Newburgh, others). You can still get tickets (until 4 p.m. today), or just join us for a la carte tastings of these great local beers.

Then, coming up on Saturday, we’re turning Japanese (oh, yes, we think so) in support of Walk Japan, where a $20 ticket gets you samples of Japanese craft beers and food from PecoPeco (Okonomiyaki, Hokkaido and Nagoya-style chicken wings).

Next week, it’s the NYC Premiere of Beer Hunter! If you’ve ever wondered why craft beer (and whiskey) drinkers are so in to “Michael Jackson,” this movie is bound to clear things up for you. The real Michael Jackson as described by Tom Acitelli in The Audacity of Hops: The History of America’s Craft Beer Revolution:

Born and raised in a working-class household near Leeds in West Yorkshire in northern England, (Michael Jackson) had his first beer, a lower-alcohol mild, at fifteen at the Castle Hill Hotel in Huddersfield. He dropped out of high school a year later, in 1958, to support his family, working newspaper and magazine jobs into the late 1960s… , covering a carnival near the Dutch-Belgian border (he) began exploring Belgium’s beers and culture.

Tom will be at the screening on June 11th at Anthology Film Archives, along with VIPs such as John Holl (editor, All About Beer), Director/Producer John Richards, Seth Wright (Beer Nation), Steve Hindy of Brooklyn Brewery, and others, TBA. Tickets are on sale now.

On Monday, June 17th, we’ll be on the Road to Pig Island with Flying Pigs Farm and Belgian beer courtesy of Silly Beer (tickets here). Finally, we’ll be celebrating Eat Drink Local Week with a Post-Festival Wrap Dinner with 12 Percent and Shelton Brothers on Monday, June 24th (tickets here).

Be sure to put Jimmy’s No. 43 on your June calendar and check back for even more events to be announced!
