Grab a camera and a friend and check out the great Pig Pick-up (in preparation for this weekend’s Pig Island at Governors Island on Saturday) from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. on Wednesday, September 7th. More than 20 chefs will be showing up to collect their hogs, which will be served up in a variety of styles at Pig Island. This is a spectacle we enjoy each year, as chefs do their best to hoist and carry off the piggies. Hope you can make it!

Postponed Due To Hurricane Irene: Wild Foods Night, August 29

BECAUSE OF HURRICANE IRENE, WILD FOODS NIGHT IS POSTPONED. We hope all our friends in NYC and at Wild Gourmet (Les, Nova and family) are safe.

Original article about Wild Foods is below…

Watch your “f-word” and join Favorite Food Friends from Wild Gourmet (just don’t use the “f-word“) for a night to benefit Slow Food NYC and the Urban Harvest programs of good food education for New York City kids. Jimmy’s No. 43 is very excited to welcome back Nova Kim and Les Hook, wild food purveyors and philosophers from Vermont, who will be in the house next Monday, August 29. Begin the night with an a la carte menu of selections (based on availability) such as blossoms, berries, bulbs, greens, herbs, roots, nuts, and mushrooms. Follow up with a ticketed event where Les and Nova will discuss their own Circle of Life philosophy of eating, gathering and living among all the species of this wonderfully abundant world!

This is one of our most popular dinners each season, so be sure to head out post-Irene (the talk is from 6:30 – 7:30, with the kitchen serving up food from 6 p.m. on) and see the more giving side of nature. Just mind your language and embrace the gatherers in the room.

Brewers Choice (September 22nd) Tickets Now Available
