Celebrate Oyster Week At Jimmy’s No. 43

If you’re from around these parts (or have taken a Circle Line tour), then you probably know all about NYC’s rich oyster history, when oysters lined the banks and were quite literally “poor man’s food.” As the waters again become safe for oysters to inhabit the Hudson and East Rivers, it’s time to celebrate our beloved bivalve with New York Oyster Week (September 22-29)!

We love our oysters, and we offer them every Thursday. This week on Thursday, September 27th, we’ll be having both our usual Chief Shucker Dave Miss in the main dining area plus our favorite aquaculturist, Karen Rivara (from the Noank Cooperative), who will be doing a bit of shucking of her own in the back room at a ticketed event to benefit Slow Food NYC. Karen will shuck, beer will be served, and you can get schooled in all things oyster. Or just buy from our regular menu, where we will have a few specialty oyster dishes available for regular purchase.

Save by purchasing your tickets for Karen’s event online; they’ll be $30 at the door.
