Coming off our very successful cassoulet cook-off, we’ll be hosting a Gumbo Cook-Off event for chefs both professional and amateur. $20 at the door will get you unlimited tastings and benefit Chefs for the Marcellus (protecting our farms, food and water from fracking). Brunch, beer and wine also available for purchase.
Co-hosting the event will be Hilary Baum from Chefs for the Marcellus, a group of chefs, restaurateurs, and other food professionals who have come together to protect our regional foodshed from the dangers of hydraulic fracturing for natural gas (fracking).
Chefs interested in competing should e-mail Danielle for details.
Cooks’ Requirements: Bring 150-200 x 2 oz. portions of PRE-COOKED gumbo (classic to contemporary recipes!) Ingredients should ideally be sourced from the Marcellus Shale region, a geologic formation that covers a large area of the mid-Atlantic region, including much of New York’s southern tier — an area of pristine waters; produce, dairy and livestock farms; and breweries and wineries.
