New To Jimmy’s No. 43 – It’s Thursday Tap!

You may have missed its launch last week, but now we’re making sure everyone knows! Every Thursday at 5 p.m. is “Thursday Tap,” where Jimmy Carbone will tap a special keg/cask beer. Brews will range from rare casks to new beers to small batches brewed by friends of Jimmy’s No. 43. Supplies while they last (hopefully through the weekend).

This week’s offering: Zymatore Thornbridge Raven Black IPA matured in Ransom Distillery Whiskey (Pinot Noir) barrel, from B. United. Jon Lundbom gave us the low down on this brew: “The base beer is a Black IPA developed for the US market. Our Zymatore Project is a stab at beer ‘affinage,’ an attempt to finish, manipulate, and possibly change the base beer through aging and maturation. We are extremely interested in aging beer in wine barrels (we have been using spirits barrels for over a decade, already) and inducing secondary and tertiary fermentations. This beer was matured in a barrel that previously held Ransom Distillery Whisky; prior to that, the barrel held Ransom Winery Pinot Noir for three consecutive seasons.”
