Make Your Spirits Bright… With Jimmy’s No. 43

Stuck in town for Christmas? Aren’t celebrating on the 25th? Need to get away from pesky relatives? Come on down to Jimmy’s No. 43 on December 25th for our Brewer’s Holiday Dinner! From 2-6 p.m. we’ll have Wandering Star Brewing Company hosting a family-style buffet dinner. (We’re anticipating offerings of leg of lamb, smoked ham, brisket, mashed potatoes, yams, greenmarket kale and desserts a plenty!) Wandering Star Brewing Company’s very own Chris Cuzme will be your host and Mary Izett (My Life on Craft, president of Homebrewers Guild) will be your hostess. Rumor has it that Alex Hall may drop by, as well.

Last year we began this tradition when Green Flash owners Mike and Lisa Hinkley along with their brewer Chuck Silva were holed up in NYC without a “family” to celebrate. We realized that a lot of New Yorkers were in the same situation, and what better way to celebrate the day than with your beer family! You can get your tickets here (tax, gratuity and beverages are not included). Note that regular bar service is available starting at 2 p.m. but the kitchen will only have a limited menu other than the Christmas/Post-Hanukkah Dinner.

Then, on New Year’s Eve, we’ll have two great options for ringing in 2013. If you are looking to sparkle (and eat), you should partake of our Sparkling + Seafood New Year’s Eve Party. Your night begins at 8 p.m. with a dinner that features oysters, shrimp, crab, lobster rolls, chowder and sides. You’ll get unlimited pours of sparkling wine, cider and special bottle-conditioned beer until the midnight toast! That’s four hours of ringing in the New Year at Jimmy’s No. 43. Tickets available now!

And back by popular demand, it’s our Craft Beer Slam! For only $60, you can enjoy an open bar from 9 p.m. until midnight (purchases after midnight are additional). For New Year’s Eve we’ll also have regular bar/restaurant service available for those who want to pay a la carte.

So get your craft beer (and sparkling spirit) to Jimmy’s No. 43 this holiday season for a great time with a great beer family!

We’re Kickstarting the Back Room Improvements

Many visitors to Jimmy’s No. 43 may only know about our back room because they got lost on the way to the loo. However, our back space is frequently used by local artists, musicians, comedians and other artisans, who are able to show off their talents in a prime area of NYC with little to no cost compared to standard venues. For 2013, we are hoping to up our game and make capital improvements to the back room that will benefit even more community arts groups moving forward.

To do this, we really need your help. We have launched a Kickstarter campaign to provide for lighting, sound, and physical improvements to the space (including heating/air conditioning), but we’ve only got a few more days to meet our fundraising goal. We need approximately $500 per day (which sounds like a lot, but works out to pennies per blog reader!) for the next 11 days, so we’re asking you to get in the holiday spirit and give the amazing arts groups we support the back room they need and deserve.

You can donate here or start by checking out this video about our back room improvement goals.

Time for Some Thursday Tap™ Barrier Brewing’s Submersion Series Belgian 1

The Barrier Brewing guys delivering their Submersion Series beer this week.

As most of you in Jimmy’s Community know, Barrier Brewing was hit hard by Hurricane Sandy. The aftermath of the storm left Barrier Brewing with a big clean-up, and some “Fermented by Sandy” beer that was left untended in the fermenters, meaning extra conditioning courtesy of Mother Nature. Happily, we’ve managed to procure a keg of the Submersion Series Belgian 1 for our Thursday Tap™ this week. This Belgian-style pale ale (7.5%) ABV continues our December Belgian beer theme. We just tapped it, so come in and show your support for our friends at Barrier Brewing with this interesting and unusual beer. Pair it with the pork belly or scallops! Or just drink it solo.

As always, available while supplies last with regular bar/restaurant/oyster service available.
