Special Limited Seating: Meet The Brewer At Ultimate Nøgne Ø Beer Night And Dinner

It’s a very special (and very limited) beer/dinner event for our Ultimate Nøgne Ø Beer Night and Dinner on Friday, April 27th, at 7 p.m. This private dinner (in our back room) is limited to 25 tickets; no additional tickets will be offered, so don’t wait to get yours as soon as possible. Your $45 ticket will include eight (yes, eight!) beers, including a chance to sample a clone brew of Nøgne Ø Porter that will be poured alongside the commercial version.

In addition, there will be representatives from beer importers, Norwegian dignitaries, Nøgne Ø’s Tore Nybø, and the famed (some might say “infamous”) co-founder and brewmaster Kjetil Jikiun. A rich brewing history and many humorous anecdotes will undoubtedly be recounted over the course of the evening. (You can get a preview of the man himself from the video below.)

More beer details to follow. In the meantime, tickets are available online here.

Just Another Friday Afternoon At Jimmy’s No. 43

You never know who might stop by for a pint at Jimmy’s No. 43, but you can almost guarantee somebody cool is going to be there. Today, it’s just another typical Friday, with Quebec brewer, Denis Desruisseaux from Le Bilboquet microbrewery just outside Montreal, and his friends dropping by for a  visit.

This Week’s Thursday Tap: Sierra Nevada Beer Camp’s Transporter

So, this one time, at beer camp… Thus begins the story of many a young brewmaster. Or, maybe not. But our good friend, John Holl, spent his January at the Sierra Nevada Beer Camp (yes, beer lovers, there is a camp for beer), and the results are going to be available at Jimmy’s No. 43 tomorrow (Thursday, 4/5) starting at 5 p.m. John’s beer is called Transporter, a low-ABV beer brewed with a classic blend of roasted malts and featuring an addition of dry, aromatic, whole-cone hops. Akin to a hand-pulled British Ale, Sierra Nevada Transporter will transport you to a place of beer bliss. On tap while supplies last. For more of John Holl’s beer musings, check out his “Beer Briefing.”

“Dish of the Week”: Farm Softboil Eggs In Garlic Aioli Herb Pesto

This past weekend, Jimmy Carbone was making his way among the many presentations at the International Association of Culinary Professionals’ annual conference here in NYC. There were many tastings involved, and one of the most raved about was from our very own Jimmy’s No. 43 chef. It was a specially prepared soft-boiled egg with caviar roe and brown butter. While a bit rich (in every sense) and delicate for the restaurant, we’re happy to have a tasty substitution: Farm Softboil Eggs in Garlic Aioli Herb Pesto.

All free range eggs with locally sourced herbs make this a great small plate for a quick protein fix or appetizer. We’ll have this variation all week long as our “dish of the week” offering. Be sure to ask for it when you stop by.

What’s On Thursday Tap? It’s Kissmeyer Stockholm Syndrome DIPA

We’re very excited with the response to our new weekly beer event, Thursday Tap. This week’s beer is nicely profiled by our friends at Shelton Brothers. So we’re going to let them tell you why you want to be at Jimmy’s No. 43 at 5 p.m. tonight (last week’s special keg lasted a mere 50 hours before selling out). Now, without further ado, we turn the blog over to Shelton Brothers!

Recently, Jimmy’s No. 43 started up a “Thursday Tap” series. Every Thursday at 5pm, they’ll tap a special keg or cask. Beers will range from rare casks to new beers to small batches brewed by some of Jimmy’s favorite breweries. Jimmy’s No. 43 is located at 43 E. 7th Street.

This Thursday, 29 March, they’ll be tapping a keg of Kissmeyer Stockholm Syndrome, a 9% double IPA that is heavily hopped with 50% American hops and 50% New Zealand hops for a dry yet intensely fruity flavor. As Anders Kissmeyer says, “the explosion of citrus, passion fruit, peach, and apricot flavours wraps up the intense hop bitterness in a highly seductive way. Think: ‘this is my idea of the ideal fruit bowl.'” For the rest of the story, click here
