If you aren’t heading over to Brooklyn for NYC Brewer’s Choice (tickets on sale until 5 p.m., and check out this cool article by one of our favorite beer writers, Niko Krommydas, about “must haves” at the event), we’ve got you covered here at our Craft Beer & Kitchen with some of NY’s best breweries on tap through the weekend.

We’ll have offerings from:

  • Rushing Duck
  • Kelso
  • Southern Tier
  • Port Jeff
  • Peekskill
  • Barrier
  • Singelcut Beersmiths
  • Finback
  • Other Half
  • Bridge and Tunnel
  • Rockaway
  • Newburgh
  • And special friends like Carton from NJ and Wandering Star and White Birch from NH
Plus try our new dish: Bacon Wrapped Pork Meatloaf served with farro risotto and sauteed kale, inspired by this past Monday’s Bacon Nation Beer Dinner menu. This morning we paired it with hard ciders as Toni Senecal (of CBS’s Toni On!) stopped by to do a story on NYC Beer Week!
Look for us on TV soon! And in the meantime, join us today (and tomorrow for KelSo Happy Hour and Beer Union NY State Beer Night).

It’s always NYC Beer Week at Jimmy’s No. 43

DSCN3151Come one, come all! It’s NYC Beer Week and we have some great beers on tap this weekend (plus a couple cool homebrew events).

NYC Beers we’re featuring this weekend:

  • Bridge and Tunnel Black Rye will be tapped tonight;
  • Tomorrow we’re bringing back Other Half Brewing, with their latest IPA;
  • Barrier’s Bulkhead Red and Money IPA will also be available on draught;
  • Plus brews from NYC Brewers Choice breweries: Finback, Peekskill, Greenport Harbor and Sixpoint.
On Sunday, we’ll have an awesome homebrew event, Homebrew Sunday, when Zok’s Homebrew from CT will bring down 12+ homebrews to sample with special brunch options. It’s pay as you go, with some beer samples.

We’re kicking off beer week with our favorite brews, and we hope you’ll join us and raise a glass to NYC Beer Week!

What’s on Tap? Bell’s, Barrier plus Burgers from the Craft Beer Kitchen

BarrierBrewingIn case you didn’t hear, Bell’s Brewing came to town this week! We’ve got several of their beers on tap (Hopslam in bottles), and these are super food-friendly brews (try with our duck cassoulet or our award-winning burger).
What else is on tap right now at Jimmy’s No. 43? Barrier!
With all the planning for NYC Beer Week and the rush of new brewery openings in NYC proper, let’s not forget one of the best breweries in NY State: Barrier Brewing. We always have Barrier on tap. Since they opened 3 years ago, we’ve gotten a delivery from them every week (except for when they were suspending deliveries owing to expansion and subsequent post-Sandy rebuilding). So, you’ll always find at least one tap with Barrier at Jimmy’s No. 43.
On tap through the weekend (or until they kick):
  • Barrier Greenroom Pale Ale
  • Barrier Barnacle Brown (perfect for this weather)
  • Peekskill IPA
  • Other Half Mokueka Pale Ale
  • Thornbridge Black Raven IPA
  • Southern Tier 2X (Nitro Stout)
Plus Barrier back-ups (Rip Rap, Bulkhead Red, Frau Blucher) and Crooked Stave in bottles.

Come drink with us!

Jimmy’s No. 43 Gears Up for Beer Week!

Jimmy’s No. 43 will be celebrating the return of NYC Beer Week (2/21-3/2) with a full line-up of events, including our featured craft beer program, NYC Brewers Choice, on February 26th from 6:00-9:30 p.m. (at the Wythe Hotel in Brooklyn – tickets on sale here). It’s our “better beer event” with 25+ brewers creating beers from local grains—we’re collaborating with GrowNYC’s Regional Grains Project—and 10 chefs providing food from restaurants as diverse as Reynard and Luke’s Lobster.

Here at our Craft Beer Bar & Kitchen, we’ll have tastings, dinners and pay-as-you-go options, including:

  • Bacon & Belgians Prix Fixe Pairing with Artisanal Imports (Tuesday, 2/18, at 7 p.m.) – Call it our preview event. Join Alex Forbes for a six-beer, three-course whole hog pairing (yep, we’re roasting a pig… because that’s just how we do it at Jimmy’s No. 43). Alex will pick six perfect Belgian brews courtesy of Artisanal Imports. Be sure to get your tickets here, because we are limiting the number of seats for this one!
  • Homebrew Sunday (Sunday, 2/23, from 1-4 p.m.) – This is a walk-around beer tasting reminiscent of Battle of the Belgians (see below). Co-curated by Connecticut’s Zoks Homebrew and Yankee Brew News’ Gregg Glaser, this event brings 12 of our sister state’s best homebrewers along with some of our favorite pro brews. You’ll have three hours of unlimited samples of beer and food. Get tickets/more details here.
  • Bacon Nation Beer Dinner with Wandering Star Brewing (Monday, 2/24, at 7 p.m.) – A five-course beer pairing menu featuring beers from regional nano-breweries paired with pork dishes from Peter Kaminsky and Marie Rama’s Bacon Nation. Tickets on salehere.
  • Classic Food & Beer Prix Fixe Pairings with Last Bottles (Tuesday, 2/25, at 7 p.m.) – Jimmy himself will be pulling from the cellar and pairing some of his favorite classic beer and food options. We won’t have a menu until a day or two ahead, but be sure to get your tickets now, as we are limiting the number of seats for this event.
  • NYC Beer Night and Book Signing with Beer Union (Thursday, 2/24, from 4-9 p.m.) – Join Giancarlo and Sarah Annese as they launch their book, Beer Lover’s New York, for an industry night featuring a dozen of our favorite local breweries. It’s pay as you go, with details here.

Come to one event or join us for all. We can’t wait to celebrate NYC Beer Week!

Tonight’s Bridge & Tunnel, Plus Looking Ahead To Bell’s Launch, Chocolate “Sparkling” and NYC Beer Week

We’re previewing NYC Beer Week (2/21-3/2) with a special tap tonight, the latest from Rich Castagna over at Queens’ Bridge & Tunnel: “Ol Gilmartin” Milk & Oatmeal Stout is a very nice, sessionable (5.0% ABV) stout that will lead off an Industry Night this evening (be prepared for special drop-ins from beer personalities).
Of course, this is all leading up to the big week, when we’ll be offering special dinners, tasting, homebrews and book signings. Among our featured events for this year’s NYC Beer Week:
  • Homebrew Sunday (2/23 from 1-4PM) – Join Zok’s homebrew from Connecticut and Gregg Glaser of Yankee Brew News for a 3-hour walk-around tasting selection of homebrew and our favorite local beers (on draught and by the bottle) + snacks. You can get your tickets for this event here.
  • Bacon Nation Beer Dinner (2/24, 7PM) – We welcome authors Peter Kaminsky and Marie Rama to Jimmy’s No. 43 for a five-course beer dinner… with bacon! Tickets available here.
  • Prix Fixe Pairing – Classic Food & Beer (2/25, 6:45 PM) – Join host Jimmy Carbone as he pulls LAST BOTTLES from the cellar to pair with classic food curated by our guest chef Annette Tomei. A very limited number of tickets is available for this seated dinner.
  • NYC Brewers Choice (2/26 at Wythe Hotel from 6-9:30 PM) – We’ll be open, but a lot of us will spend the early evening at our favorite beer event of the year, NYC Brewers Choice. Get all the details (here) of these very special brews made with NY State ingredients and benefiting GrowNYC Greenmarket’s Regional Grains Project.
  • NY Beer Night & Book Signing with Beer Union (2/27, 4-7 PM) – We’ll kick things off with a very special happy hour featuring KelSo, and follow up with a book signing and featured beers from throughout the region. Pay as you go; more details here.
Leading up to our NYC Beer Week events, we’ll have our own launch of Michigan’s Bell’s Brewing (a $20 Tuesday Tasting next week – 2/11) and a sit-down dinner pairing six Belgians curated by Alex Forbes of Artisanal Imports with three pork dishes from a whole smoked hog we’ll be preparing on Tuesday, February 18 (tickets here).
Thanks to input from customers, we’re also starting a series of classes. You can join us next Thursday for a Chocolate, Cheese & Sparkling Beverage (wine + cider) class with Tess Rose Lampert. Whether you’re singled or coupled, we’ll get you ready for Valentine’s weekend with some tasty pairings that bring out the love… for sparkling wine and flavorful food! You can get your tickets for next week’s class here.
And join us all month long for the best in craft beer from NY and beyond!
