Book Launch: Eat The City!

Come celebrate the release of Robin Shulman‘s new book, Eat the City, about the fishers, farmers, foragers, butchers, slaughterers, sugar refiners, cane cutters, brewers, winemakers, and beekepers who have shaped New York City and shown that basic food production has always been part of American urban life.

The book shows that local food production is no new trend–but has long roots in New York City, and over the years, it has shaped city life. From 6:30-10 p.m. on Thursday, July 12th, Robin’s team will be putting together open-faced sandwiches featuring these traditional New York City foods.

Robin is a journalist whose work has appeared in publications including the Washington Post, the New York Times, Slate, and the Guardian. She has reported on New York City and the Middle East, among other places.

This is a “back room” event and open to any, and the regular menu/service will be available all night long!
